Tips For Buying Fishing Reels

When it comes to buying the right fishing reel, there are tons of different things to consider. One of the most important things that you need to figure out is what brand will best suit you. There are tons of brands so you want to choose wisely. The best way to do this is to go online and looks at reviews. Typically, if a fishing reel has a lot of good reviews, then it is really something worth buying. If it has a lot of bad reviews, and you see the same negative feedback over and over again surrounding one of the brands, chances are you will not be satisfied with that brand. Some of the most popular fishing reel brands include Pflueger, Zebco, Shimano, Abu Garcia, and Okuma.

The place to purchase your fishing reel is also important. If you are looking for a good deal, the best thing to do is to keep an eye out in your area for a local fishing store, or main chain fishing store, to put its equipment on sale. Sometimes, you can get fishing reels for as much as 50% off just by buying at the right time! The off season is usually when there are the most sales. The off season for most American occurs in the heart of winter. Although, there are many places where you will still be able to fish in the winter, but as a whole, the best fishing takes place in spring, summer, and even fall as long as you don’t live somewhere where your pond, lake, or ravine will freeze. Some stores that offer fishing equipment include Bass Pro Shops, Quantum, Tackle Direct, Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Target, and many mall department stores as well. Department stores are a great place to look because they typically have quality great quality items for much less than the price that major fishing shops will the sell the same product as.

The price of fishing reels depends solely on the quality that you are looking for. In fact, it is actually directly correlated - unless of course you get the item on sale! Most fishing reels fall somewhere in between the price range anywhere from $59.99 to as much as over $200! Of course, the more expensive reels allow the fisherman to pull in bigger game and give more support when reeling in. It is also a much smoother process to reel in and to cast your line. However, the lower priced reels definitely are able to get the job done, but they may just not be as luxurious as the more expensive ones. Both work sufficiently, so it depends on how often you fish to deem which reel would best suit your needs.

Fishing reels are not the only decision that you need to make when it comes to getting your fishing equipment together. You also need to make sure you are purchasing the right fishing line, fishing rod, and even bait can make or break a day on the water as well.

Can't go wrong with an old fashioned cane-pole. :)

I've got a Zebco Micro-trend. It only cost me about $20. It has worked great for me!! Lol, not going to say what kind of bait I use though :)
